In the hands of a professional, I think comparing a short heavier steel shafted driver to longer graphite shafted top of the line drivers is a little unfair. When I bought my Taylormade bubble 2, it was 1.5 inches overlength, and now that is the standard lengths of all the new drivers I have tested. I think that is mostly due to the shorter shaft which I can control more easily.ĭriver shafts have gotten a lot longer in recent years. I am driving the ball longer and straighter that I have for a number of years. To date I have been extremely pleased with it. When I saw the Dunlop, I thought well for the price of sleeve of balls it had to be worth a try. And with the new high MOI shapes still evolving, I didn't want to spend £200+ on something that would be obsolete in 6 months. Tried the Ping (G5,Rapture), Taylormade R7(425,460), Callaways(Ft3, X), Wilsons, and pretty much anything else I could get my hands on.īut I wasn't happy with any of them. I had been shopping around for a driver to replace my old taylormade bubble2, but wasn't having much success. I consistenty play off about a 10 handicap. Until yesterday I was unconvinced that equipment could make such a difference, but now I know it does.ĥ out of 5 Unexpectedly very good 21 April 2007 Yesterday used my new Cleveland HiBore XL and found I was consistently hitting at least 50 yards further AND straight. Was only hitting it around 200 yards with a slice. I'm a 21 handicapper and have just found that the 65i (graphite shaft) was clearly holding back my game. I now use the three wood version of it which can hit it about the same distance without slicing it. Most of the time i dont have a problem with my other clubs and slicing. When i used it on the course the captain was behind me to watch me slice it into the next fairway. I now know after reading todays golfer that i proably dont generate enough swing speed for the shaft but i also know that its pretty useless from tgs reveiw even when in the hands of a proffesinal. I am a junior who got this driver becuase it was cheap, the version i got was a stiff graphite shafted version. I found that this driver dropped my scores significantly when i started playing with it, my scorecard is still tumbling as i get used to playing with it and i think it is a superb club to get you started in golf, fair enough it might hold back more serious golfers and low-mid handicappers but it has improved my game immensely.Ģ out of 5 holding back my game 11 July 2007

To me it doesn't sound too bad, after all it's made by Dunlop and the bag doesn't look bad to me either? The set is available with steel shafts as well. But I'm quite aware as well that the cheaper sets you get on ebay are scrap across the board. I'm a student and yet do not have the financial power to go for a set of Callaway, Taylor Made or other famous brands. The Dunlop Company has been taken over by the British Sports World International and currently offers the following deals directly from the manufacturer: Google is of no help and the Dunlop website is currently under reconstruction: I just came across the following club set deal and would like to know if anybody could comment on that set of clubs as I cannot find any information on the Internet.

I started to play golf in early September and played myself down to 45 by October with rented clubs when the season here in the Alps ended.
